Milwaukee, Wisconsin March 26-28, 2009

Papers presented at this conference were wide ranging, both in discipline and topic. Three sessions were music-oriented. Numerous panels, however, addressed topics relevant to ecocriticism and musicology. The conference program is available through the following link:

This conference was designed to be environmentally friendly. The incorporation of “green” options and resources reduced the amount of smog and greenhouse gas emissions, associated with air and ground travel, as well as the amount of paper, plastic, and food waste associated with such events. In this regard the 30th annual meeting of the Nineteenth Century Studies Association may be seen as a model for environmentally conscious conferences in the future.
